Being, not having

Faries does not paint with a brush. With a clothespin she makes her way through the wet and thick acrylic. She also has a recognizable and personal style developed over the years. Her imagery could be described as a fluid merging of abstracte and figurative elements. This often figure in a labyrinthine panorama that has a highly intriguing operation. Angular and curvilinear components are processed together in exciting compositions with remarkable details you should look closely at. In her latest paintings there are many 'free' areas to discover. Much more than before, the "empty" areas as important as the 'full'. This creates a new tension in her paintings. The two stars of the show are without doubt the  paintings 'A human being being human' and
'A human, being. ' The first painting is a jumble of shapes that are conspicuous by their intrinsic complexity and coherence. The latter work is dedicated to Bob Marley and is much quieter. This artwork depicts for Faries the essence of 'being'. And she did it successfully.  The large "empty" red and black areas are put down in a surprising combination with wispy lines and a complex central section, which consists of irregularly shaped elements.
